Canal Exhibition

A moving story in pictures and words of how canals were built and operated in their heyday.
The decline of canals during the age of the steam railway is documented, together with the more recent revival of canals for leisure and tourism purposes.

canal boatWorking models of the Barton swing aqueduct and the Anderton boat lift (this model currently on loan to the Anderton boat lift trust during the lift's restoration, but an exhibit of their progress is on display). Models also of Worsley coal mine and how a lock is built and operated.

The canal exhibition is housed at the Motor Museum on Abbey Road in Llangollen, where for a minimal charge you can also view a fine selection of restored vintage cars and bikes.

The Canal Exhibition is open Tuesday - Sunday, 10am - 5pm, Mid February to Mid November.
