Boat trips
We can offer 3 different boats trips
45 min Horse Drawn Boat
Trip.
This trip leaves the Wharf and follows the
canal westwards for about 1 mile before the horse changes ends and
brings the boat back to the Wharf. The length of canal for this
trip is not used by motor boats so the water is crystal clear and
there are often fish to be seen. The boat passes the Royal
International Pavilion passing under 2 bridges before running
alongside the steam railway for a short distance.
This trip is suitable for all ages.
This trip can run at any reasonable time
between 10.00am and 3.00pm. by arrangement.
2 hour Horse Drawn Boat
Trip
This trip goes in the same direction as the
45min trip but continues to near the end of the canal at the Horse
Shoe Falls. There is a 20 minute stop to allow the Horse Shoe Falls
to be visited on foot. About a 5 minute walk. In addition to
passing the Royal International Pavilion passing under 2
bridges before running alongside the steam railway for a short
distance this trip continues up the Dee valley passing under 2 more
bridges and crossing a small aqueduct before arriving at the Chain
Bridge Hotel close to the Horse Shoe Falls. After the break to
visit the Falls the boat retraces it's steps back to the Wharf.
This trip is not suitable for very young
children.
This trip can run at any reasonable time
between 10.00am and 2.00pm. by arrangement
Saturn Horse drawn boat educational
week.
In May 2012 we ran a schools week at
Llangollen Wharf in conjunction with the Saturn trust.
The Saturn trust operate a Traditional locally built Horse Drawn
narrow boat built in 1906, 'Saturn' was restored back in 2005 to be
used for educational purposes.
The schools visit to the Wharf included
a 45 minute horse drawn boat trip in one of our modern purpose
built horse drawn boats, along with an hour long session of
educational activities run by the Saturn trust volunteers on board
the Historic narrowboat 'Saturn'.
The 2012 schools week was a great success,
and we received excellent feedback from the schools involved. Due
to the popularity of the 2012 week we have extended the 2013
educational time to two weeks from 13th-24th May.

2 Hour Aqueduct Trip
This trip is in a motor boat and goes in the
opposite direction to the Horse Drawn Boat Trips. The trip passes
through the Vale of Llangollen crossing the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct
en route. There is a full commentary on this trip and
refreshments can be served on board. The trip is a one way trip so
your transport will drop you off at one end and pick you up at the
other end.
This trip is suitable for older children and
students.
This trip runs twice a day at 12.15pm and
2.00pm.
